Pfister Energy of Baltimore was recognized as one of the solar business partners of the Baltimore Center for Green Careers in a ceremony at the organization’s facility yesterday. Pfister Energy is providing internships to two of the current participants in the program.

Last fall, Pfister and its partner company, Cole Roofing, offered 5 positions to the Civic Works program graduates.

Cole Roofing has been committed to creating jobs in the local community for nearly 100 years. The Baltimore Green Center and Civic Works create ready-to-hire candidates in a way that is very attractive to regional employers. Please see the news and video from ABC 2 news:

BALTIMORE – Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the One Baltimore for Jobs initiative launched the city’s first solar training program Monday.

The program is designed to teach people how to install and maintain solar energy systems.

There are also several certifications for trainees, who are required to have 320 hours of on-the-job training.

“He told me about certifications, skills that I would get. As the training went on, they didn’t just train us on solar, they also trained us on personal development and conducting ourselves in a professional, you know, way,” participant Michael Harris said.

This program came together after the U.S. Department of Labor provided the mayor’s office with a grant.
